Policies are a great way to convey to parents how you conduct your organisation, look very professional and offer some protection if things start to go a little wrong. They are also great to show Ofsted how you are meeting a lot of the inspection outcomes. They could make the difference between ‘satisfactory’ and ‘good’ or even ‘outstanding’.
Ofsted do not expect newly Registered Childminders to have a whole range of written policies, but they do expect that any policies shown to them do reflect that Childminders practice and haven’t just been copied from another Childminder’s portfolio.
Remember, a good Childminder will regularly review their policies making amendments if there are any changes in the law/standards and if something has happened in their own practice.

How do I join BCMA?
All Ofsted Registered childminders who are resident in the London Borough of Bromley are automatically members of BCMA. There is no membership fee, and no forms to complete!
How can BCMA help me?
As a member you can take advantage of all the resources we have to offer.
We represent childminders at meetings and committees to ensure a fair deal for childminders. We are helping to shape the future of Childminding in Bromley by lobbying both the NCMA and Bromley Early Years on a variety of issues.
We support families by providing resources and information to make their childcare choice easier.
We support and maintain local websites across the borough where childminders can promote themselves locally to families looking for childcare in their area.
