BCMA are not able to endorse or recommend individual childminders. Every effort has been made to ensure that the Childminders whose details feature on these sites are all currently Registered with Ofsted, however we would strongly recommend that you make your own checks by contacting the Children's Information Service and asking the Childminder to see their original Ofsted Registration Certificate.
Meet the Minder
Do you not have time to visit lots of different childminders? Maybe thinking of using a Childminder but want to learn a little more about their role?
Then a Meet the Minder session is for you. Below is how a typical session might be organised, but they vary from area to area.
Childminders from around the borough attend the informal morning. They are seated at tables covering the different postcodes. Parents arriving are directed to the table covering the area they live, work or even travel through to get to work. They can sit and chat with the childminders over a tea or a coffee and learn about Childminding in the area. Many of the childminders bring along their portfolio for parents to look through. These usually contain their registration documents, certificates from training courses and relevant qualifications, policies, procedures and sample paperwork. Some bring along photograph albums showing the activities that they do and their home. Most have leaflets or business cards for parents to take away. It is an excellent way for parents to meet lots of different childminders in one morning in one location.
The Bromley Early Years, Childminding Team have organised theses events in the past
and provided all parents attending with a folder containing contact information and
sample documentation such as contracts. The co-
There was also a small play area set up for children to play in whilst their parents chat to the childminders.
We, the BCMA, also attended with our display boards and information, offering support to both the Childminders and parents.
