FLU PANDEMIC GUIDANCE FOR CHILDCARE PROVIDERS

According to scientists, a human flu pandemic is inevitable and when one occurs, it will be very likely to reach the UK. Therefore, the Government is advising that organisations, including those in the public sector at local level, should prepare themselves as soon as possible so that plans can be activated when a pandemic arrives.

The DfES has produced guidance on planning for a flu pandemic, in consultation with other Government departments and other bodies as part of a coordinated Government strategy. There are full and summary versions of the guidance for early years settings, childcare providers including childminders, schools, other children's services, local authorities, HE colleges and FE institutions.

Information for parents is also available.
