BCMA Support group for Childminders studying for
Certificate in Early Years Practice.

BCMA held its first group support session for Bromley Childminders studying for their Certificate in Early Years Practice with the Open University last week at the Emmanuel Church in West Wickham. The group is aimed at those studying courses E123 Working with Children in the Early Years and E124, Supporting Children's Learning in the Early Years. Support was given regarding the format of the assignments, suggestions on how to find useful quotes and how to correctly reference the Open University resources. Two Childminders had attended the OU tutorial and shared what they had learnt there with the group. We are currently establishing a secure area of the website to contain additional information and support for those attending and a further group session has been organsied for April to look at Observations for TMA 02.

If you are a childminder interested in undertaking these courses next year and would like further information look at the Training and Qualification page of the website or contact us

NEWS ITEM ADDED 3 APRIL 2007

Congratulations

BCMA held the second of their Open University Support Meetings on Monday 2nd April.
The group of Childminders are studying for their E123 and some for their E124, Certificate in Early Years Practice, level 4. Most of the Childminders had received the results from their first assignments and were delighted with results ranging from 63% to 93% (40% is the passmark)

The second assignment is on observing children whilst playing or doing a creative activity. The Childminders were able to exchange ideas and look at how the Study Topics and OU Readers linked to the assignment. They discussed how to analyse the observation, defining the different types of play, the stages children's play develops through and how to plan activities to extend their learning.

If you would like further information on the courses mentioned above or any other qualifications please see our qualifications page.
