BCMA Chair Ann Glover celebrates 25 years of Childminding.
Ann Glover, BCMA chair, this week celebrated 25 years of caring for children as a Registered Childminder.
Ann is also a support Childminder and enjoys helping the prospective and new Childminders learn the ropes. She also runs a very successful toddler group every week in her local church hall.
So where did Ann's interest in caring for children begin?
Ann's decision to become
a Childminder was greatly influenced by her upbringing and the birth of her daughter,
Sarah. Ann was the eldest child and with three younger siblings she was very involved
in their care. When she had her own daughter she had intended returning to work but
Sarah was not a well child. Ann felt unable to leave her in anyone else's care and
so needed a job that would allow her to care for her herself. Childminding was perfect,
it allowed Ann to do a job that she loved, care for her daughter and give her the
company of other children.
Over the last 25 years my Mum has welcomed many children into her house -
they have
all respected and liked her -
25 years later, Ann is still working as a full time Childminder. She received an Outstanding grade at her Ofsted inspection, she has completed an NVQ3 in Early Years Care and Education and is currently studying for her Certificate in Early Years Practice with the Open University.
“Seeing what she has done for these children has inspired me to be a childminder myself. My Mum is the best and any child in her care is very lucky they have such a kind and caring Childminder.”
BCMA would like to take this opportunity to thank Ann for her commitment to supporting Childminders, children and families in Bromley.
Congratulations Ann on 25 years!
