We held our third Annual General meeting on 26th September at the Emmanuel church,
West Wickham. The event was attended by 77 childminders along with representatives
from Bromley Early Years and the National Childminding Association.
The meeting
passed the proposed changes to the constitution which enabled the existing Chair,
Ann Glover to be elected for a fourth term in office. These are available to download
here together with Minutes of the meeting, and the Treasurer’s and Chair’s reports.
A flower arrangement was presented to Ann to thank her for the huge commitment she
has made to BCMA over the last 3 years.
Jane Cole was the guest speaker at the AGM. She recently retired from the Department
for Education and Skills (now Department for Children, Schools and Families) to work
as a consultant supporting the delivery of EYFS, the project that she had been working
on at DfES.
Jane’s passion for the new Early Years Foundation Stage framework inspired
those at the meeting and many childminders who had expressed concerns regarding the
implementation of it were reassured. Jane recommended that childminders start to
implement the framework now or as soon as possible and not wait until it becomes
mandatory in September 2008.
We would like to thank Jane on behalf of all the childminders who attended for giving up her evening to support our event.

BCMA’s EYFS Observation Booklet.
