History

The Bromley Childminding Association (BCMA) was formed in the Spring of 2004 by a group of Childminders to represent and support Childminding throughout the London Borough of Bromley.

We represent Childminders at meetings and committees to ensure a fair deal for Childminders. We are helping to shape the future of Childminding in Bromley by lobbying both the NCMA and Bromley Early Years on a variety of issues.

We support families by providing resources and information to make their childcare choice easier.

We support and maintain local websites across the borough where Childminders can promote themselves locally to families looking for childcare in their area

Our Operating Policies and Procedures

As a small, Registered charity we aim to keep our formal policies to the minimum. However, we wish to operate openly and transparently and will therefore add important downloads to this section as they are developed.

Working with BCMA - Can you help us?

Become involved with BCMA and help shape the future of Childminding in Bromley

Childminder Committee Members
We need to recruit a Childminder from each of the local website areas to join our committee and represent their area. Attendance is required at about 10 meetings per year and expenses would be paid.

Are you a regular attendee at Drop-Ins? Do you know lots of childminders through attending training, toddler groups and from picking up and dropping at local pre-schools and schools? Would you be able to bring those childminders views and concerns to meetings and also to feedback to them after the meetings?

Events Helpers
We also need people who would be willing to help out with other events .
Even if it is only for an hour or so - it’s great fun and very rewarding.

If you can help in any way please contact us

Organisational Structure

BCMA is governed by a committee which is formed of Childminders, parents and representatives from the Bromley Early Years and Childcare Service and the National Childminding Association.

Our Chair, Ann Glover, is a Childminder herself with almost 25 years Childminding experience.

We launched this website in mid February 2006 and we’ve been delighted with the response. Our web writer Liz Hodgman is a former Childminder and a childcare professional.

We are supported by a team of volunteers who help run the committee meetings, organise and assist with our events, and provide a valuable link between the BCMA and working Childminders.
