Introduction

Babies and children develop in individual ways and at varying rates. Every area of development – physical, cognitive, linguistic, spiritual, social and emotional – is equally important.

 

 

Child Development is split into three topics:

 

Child Development

A Skilful Communicator

A Competent Learner

 

In the following pages we will look at what this actually means for a Childminder and provide ideas on how you can develop your own practice to support babies and children’s development.

The child’s overall development, how each child is unique and the importance of having close relationships with carers and how this can influence development from an early age  

 

 

A Skilful Communicator

We provide information on how children communicate and ideas on how you can support babies and children to explore the world through relationships with others and different ways in which to communicate with them.

A Competent Learner

How children come into the world ready to learn and how Childminders can provide the right environment to stimulate the learning by providing the right resources and support.
